The White House announced that it intends to end both the national and public health emergencies on May 11, 2023. This will end 3 years of COVID-related relief requiring group health plans to cover COVID diagnostic testing and vaccines, and extending deadlines normally applicable under ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA. As the federal emergencies come to an end, employers of all sizes offering group health plans will be impacted. 5500 REPORTING: TIPS & TRICKS

With the 5500 reporting deadline approaching for calendar year plans, it is a good time to review the general reporting requirements as well as some of the more common (and uncommon) issues employers may face when reporting. We will touch on when to use a wrap document, counting participants, which schedules are needed, special codes for terminating and shrinking plans, plans with multiple policy years, and more.
